Open Day FAQs

If you have a question about our Open Day, please refer to these Frequently Asked Questions to see if we’ve answered it.

If you’re still unsure, please email us.

  • The castle and gardens will be open between 11am and 5pm Sunday 16th June 2024

  • This year we have introduced time slots for the ceremonial rooms in the castle. This is for health and safety reasons to avoid congestion inside.

Time slots are for the castle interior rooms only. All visitors are invited to arrive at any time from 11-5pm to enjoy our gardens and the rest of the event (irrespective of when your time slot is).

You will be asked to show your time slot on the email confirmation upon entering the castle so please have this ready.

  • Tickets are available for purchase from our website.

We will not be accepting card or cash payments on the day.

  • The confirmation email you have received is also your event ticket. You will not receive other ticket forms and this is the only documentation you will need to share with us at the ticket desk upon arrival.

If you have booked for someone else, please share this confirmation email with them in advance of the event. Similarly, if someone has booked on your behalf, please remind them to share this with you.

We will ask for your order number (on the first line in bold) and your full name upon arrival to verify your ticket.

  • Tickets for group bookings are itemised in the confirmation booking email. All visitors will need to show a ticket upon arrival (even if you are entitled to a free ticket). This is to ensure we have a correct head count for health and safety reasons.

If you are part of a group booking please try to arrive at the same time. If this is not possible, please ask the purchaser to share the booking confirmation email with you in advance. Once we know your booking order number, our team will make a note of how many from the group have arrived.

  • If you have received your order confirmation email, your payment has been processed successfully and there is nothing more for you to do.

The website system we use is set up for selling physical products as well as digital tickets. As this is a digital ticket, the pending / fulfilled status is invalid so please ignore it!

  • We ask that visitors check their ticket details carefully before completing payment as we are charged refund penalties from the card processing merchants. This sadly means less money in our charity fundraising pot.

A full refund will be paid if tickets are cancelled up to 7 days before the event.
Please email events@maxstokecastle.com to request this refund.

We regret that should you wish to cancel less than 7 days prior to the event, no refund can be granted.

  • Due to the continued popularity of our Open Day unfortunately we have had to set a cap on our ticket numbers. If you have missed out this year, please subscribe to our updates and be the first to hear about our event announcements and when our tickets go live.

  • Food and drink:

We have a selection of delicious cakes, savoury options, cold and hot drinks available at our tea tent. We kindly request no picnics or BBQs.

    Toilets:

We have toilet facilities available including disabled access on site.

    Shopping:

There are a small selection of plant stalls, exhibitors and a tombola.

  • There is free onsite parking at the event. Our car parking assistants will guide you on arrival.

  • We welcome visitors of all disabilities to our events. If you require a carer to attend with you, they can book a carer ticket and access the event for free.

There is a short walk from the car park to the ticket desk. If you need assistance, please let our friendly car parking assistants know as a golf buggy is available for transfers.

Sadly there is no wheelchair access for the ceremonial rooms in the castle. Concession tickets are available to those with disabilities.

Limited seating is available inside the castle and thoughout our gardens.

There are disabled toilet facilities on site.

Our risk assessment will be made available at the ticket desk. If you would like to be sent a copy of this in advance, please request this by email events@maxstokecastle.com

  • Unfortunately we do not allow dogs but Guide Dogs are welcome.

  • Please think ahead and try to remain hydrated throughout the day. We suggest you bring portable water flasks as there will be water points available. Bottled water will also be available to buy from the tea tent.

Hats and suncream are not sold on site so please bring these with you.

There are shaded areas in the gardens. We will do our best to ensure seating in these places.

Any visitors feeling unwell should make themselves known to an event organiser or steward, who will seek professional medical services.
